The Morning Is Coming!
Another day of dealing with bladder stones is behind me. I had surgery for them in 2020, but after four years, a doctor found thirty more stones—some as large as 1 centimeter! Thankfully, the urologist was able to remove them all, and I feel so much better now. You can see the white stones, but my bladder is clean and pink. These challenges represent as a reminder of life's difficulties.
Life can feel uncertain, not knowing if my catheter might become blocked again and cause a stroke or if pressure sores could return. I need to remain cautious, but over-caution can lead to worry, anxiety, and even fear. Yet, I also know and firmly believe that God has my back. This doesn’t mean he will always shield me from hardships, but until the day he calls me home, I trust that he will carry me through every trial to fulfill my calling.
When that day comes, through the finished work of Jesus on the cross and the empty tomb, I will join him forever in his kingdom. I hope to hear him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Even if I die, I know where I will be and with whom I will be. This confidence frees me from the fear of death, allowing me to focus on what I have to do here and now with gratitude and the joy of my salvation, all for his glory.
I know some of you may also be walking through trials, feeling like giving up because you cannot see the light at the end of the darkness. I feel your pain. But sometimes we cannot see the light ahead of us because it has always been behind us, so close that we don’t even recognize it. That light—the light of Christ—has been driving us forward and remaining present with us all along.
One day, that light will move to the front and lead us through everything we face. Until then, let’s keep persevering, holding onto the gift of faith, because morning is coming. That is the promise of God fulfilled, the dawn that will surely break.
As Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, let’s continue trusting in him as we await that glorious morning: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
