In Loving Memory of Pastor Jeehoon Jung

Dear Friends in Christ,

It is with deep sorrow that I share the passing of our beloved brother, Pastor Jeehoon Jung, who went to be with the Lord following a sudden heart attack. He was only 43 years old—a life marked by faithfulness and devotion to Christ, now completed in the eternal presence of God.

Pastor Jung was a graduate of Denver Seminary’s Master of Arts program and a current student in the Korean Global Campus Doctor of Ministry program. He had been diligently working on his thesis, which explored the identity of Christians as the Bride of Christ—a reflection of his deep love for the Church and his longing for a more intimate union with Christ.

He dearly loved the Lord, Denver Dream Church, and the fellowship of believers. He also held Denver Seminary close to his heart, often expressing gratitude and pride in being part of this evangelical theological community. In one of his recent social media posts, he shared the following words—now a lasting testimony of his convictions:

“Let us be unwavering in the gospel, rooted in sound theology, and gracious in areas that are non-essential. With practical discernment and clear boundaries, let us learn what we can even from progressives—without compromising truth—while continually seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we move forward.”

These words embody the way he lived—firm in his convictions, generous in spirit, discerning in practice, and always dependent on the Spirit’s leading.

I first met Pastor Jung and his wife, April, in 2016. Together, they faithfully supported special needed ministry at Cherry Hills Community Church. Their love for the students was genuine and deep. They also blessed J.D. Kim Ministries through their prayers, participation in seminars, translation work, and even logistical support. He was one of the few with whom I could share my challenges, concerns, and prayer requests. His bright and warm smile encouraged and uplifted me every time I saw him.

Just this past Sunday, Pastor Jung led worship and ministered to his congregation with humility and devotion. After returning home from church, he was called into the eternal presence of God. Until his final breath, he remained a faithful shepherd, serving Christ and his people with love, humility, and perseverance.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, April, who walked with him through every season of life and ministry. She was his closest companion and dearest friend. They loved and cherished each other deeply. We lift her up with heartfelt compassion, praying that God’s sustaining grace will surround and uphold her in the days ahead.

We now entrust Pastor Jung to the loving presence of the Lord, where every tear is wiped away. May he rest in the eternal joy and peace of Christ.

Please pray that God's comfort and mercy would be poured out upon his wife, his grieving family, and all who loved him dearly. Even as I write these words, it is difficult to accept that he is no longer with us. I already miss his radiant smile and kind presence.

Your prayers are deeply appreciated and sincerely needed during this time. I ask for your continued prayers for the members of Dream Church, who loved and cared for him with devotion.

J.D. Kim
