God Is Willing to Work. Are We?
Friends,
I had the joy and privilege of preaching at a special gathering hosted by Denver Dream Church, welcoming a large group of young Korean students who are currently traveling across the United States as part of the “Crossing America Land with Liberty” project. Approximately 100 students—both believers and non-believers—have come from South Korea to participate in this unique 30-day journey across the country, beginning in San Francisco and concluding in New York City. Along the way, they are passing through key states including Utah, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, and others.
This mission is not only a cultural and educational experience for the students but also a gospel-centered initiative supported by many Korean churches, businesses, and individual believers across the United States. Through hospitality, worship, and fellowship, these students are being given opportunities to hear and encounter the gospel in tangible and meaningful ways.
Denver Dream Church graciously hosted the event with the help of its congregation, along with generous support from local Korean churches such as Faith Presbyterian Church, New Gate Church, and many dedicated volunteers who opened their homes to host students for the night. I am especially thankful to my dear friends— Maurine Sweeney, Rich Sweeney, Gene Kissinger, Cindy Elliott, Dick Elliott —who were among those who welcomed students into their homes.
After preaching the message of Jesus Christ, I gave an altar call—and to my amazement, many students raised their hands in response, expressing their desire to commit their lives to Christ as their Lord and Savior. It was a deeply moving and powerful moment that I will not forget.
I have come to realize that God has always been willing to work—but I was not. In my procrastination and weariness, I underestimated the enduring power of the gospel, forgetting that it still saves and redeems. The same gospel that once transformed my life is still as powerful and active as ever. Its power has not diminished; rather, my faith in it had grown faint. Yet Scripture reminds us:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” (Rom. 1:16).
God has not ceased to work. The gospel has not lost its power. It is I who must return to trusting, proclaiming, and participating in the redemptive work that God continues to do through his Word.
Please continue to pray for these students and staff: that they would remain safe and healthy throughout their journey, and above all, that they would encounter the grace and love of God in life-transforming ways. May this mission become a turning point in their spiritual journey, and may the seeds of faith planted during this trip bear much fruit in the days to come.
