Update on Visiting Craig Hospital

Dear friends of J.D. Kim Ministries,

We had a great time sharing Duffeyrolls and hand-written cards with patients and their family members at Craig Hospital and its staff. I would like to briefly update you on this event.

At 9:00am on 4/16/2021, volunteers gathered at the entrance of Craig Hospital. Unfortunately, few volunteers could not make it because of the horrible road condition and severe snowstorm. Yes, in April! There, we met the delivery guy from Duffeyroll. Thankfully, the employees at Duffeyroll were able to wrap the rolls individually, label their flavors, and deliver 30 boxes of or 360 Duffeyrolls to Craig Hospital.

When we went inside of the hospital, we met the chaplain of Craig Hospital (Candi). She welcomed us and explained to us about the conditions of the patients. Currently, there are about 89 in-patients, and only a direct family member who will be a potential caregiver of a patient can visit the patient and stay there. Thankfully, because of this very strict regulation, no patient has been exposed to the virus, and for the same reason, we could not personally hand our cards and treats to the patients and family members and Craig Hospital staff.

After her brief explanation, I handed her the boxes of Duffeyrolls and a small box filled with 90 beautiful, sincere hand-written cards that you sent to me, cards filled with God’s life-transforming words and your compassion, blessing, and prayer. I told her about the cards, and she was surprised and inspired by your passion and effort, and said, “Thank you so much! I never received something like these before.”

Because of the Covid-19 restriction, we could not stay there for a long time. We went outside of the hospital, had an outside fellowship with coffee and Duffeyrolls, and finished our meeting with prayers, asking God to use our treats and cards to comfort their broken hearts and to lead them to have faith in our Lord Jesus. We did our part with two fish and five loaves of bread and prayed that God may do what he does best.

We could not do this without your love for Jesus and obedience to his command and your prayer and support. We want to thank specifically those volunteers who wrote the cards for this event: Niki Hyde, Irene P., Kryna Bal, Karin Gardner, Mike Gardener, and Dennis Russo. I received a card from the Craig Hospital Outpatient Clinic, thanking us for our treats and love for Craig Hospital.

I hope we can do more serving together next time. Here are few pictures.
