A Prayer for 2020 from our Friend Dennis Russo
Dear Heavenly Father!
We approach You in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We join together as one family of God to say that You will be more glorified and honored in 2020 than in any other year!
As Your word declares, “You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your carts overflow with abundance” (Ps. 65:11). We declare that this year is foreordained by You, is sanctified by Jesus' blood, and is blessed by the Holy Spirit. It is not a time for panic but a time for rejoicing! It is not a time for worrying but a time for serving the Lord!
As John prayed to You, we ask that we may enjoy good health and that all may go well with us, even as our soul is getting along well (3 John 1:2). Help us to have peace in You and know You more this year than in any other year! We, Lord God, believe in Your words and promises. We will be richer in faith, richer in serving others in needs, and richer in dedication to Your ministries this year.
Your Word says, “make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Eph. 5:16). We recognize that time is Your precious gift to us and is like vapor in the wind. Thus, we pray that we will be more efficient for the Kingdom of God and lead more people to You this year than in any other year. We are not ashamed of You or the Gospel. We will speak Your words clearly with conviction and humility, as lovingly and yet urgently as possible.
You asked, “When the Son of Man returns, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8). If You Lord were to come back this year, we promise that You will find abundance of faith, because we will continuously believe that You are the Son of God, that You shed Your holy blood for the forgiveness of our sins and rose again from the dead to give us eternal life. We believe that we are serving a risen and living “Lord” who will be with us and our families throughout the coming years and for all eternity.
Thank You Lord God for this new life in Christ and for this new year and new beginning to live with You. We pray all this in the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
